Report – Humberto Palacios – September 30, 2022
Hello brethren,
My family and I greet you all from Plant City, Florida. My family and I are doing well after hurricane Ian, thanks to our Lord. Our area was hit with very strong winds and lots of rain, knocking many trees down and some small structures. It started raining a couple of days even before the hurricane hit land in Florida. Thousands lost power around our area, but nothing compared to Fort Myers and other cities. Ian’s trajectory at first was going through Tampa and right through us in Plant City but as we know the trajectory did change and missed from hitting us directly. We pray for all those that were hurt and all that lost loved ones. We especially pray that people will understand that death can come any time and they need to come to our Lord, be ready and reconciled with God. (MKJV) 2Corinthians 5:20 Then we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as God exhorting through us, we beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
My wife and I kept in contact with the brethren from Dover before and after Ian. Everyone was ok thru the hurricane, thanks to our Lord. Some lost power and water for several days but they all got it back now.
I was in contact with a preacher from Fort Myers, brother Alejandro Palomo. Alejandro, his wife, and their family are ok as well as all the brethren in that congregation. We thank our Lord for being with them, that area was hit hard by the storm.
My family and I spend a day working at the church property after the storm. There were tree branches all over the property and on the roof of the church building. There is still more work to do there. There is a large tree that seems to be leaning towards the building and we might have to pay someone to remove it. The men and I will get together and talk about this issue.
Thanks to our Lord, power came back to the church building before the first day of the week. Our meetings were not interrupted except that Wednesday evening when the hurricane was at its strongest in our area.
My wife and I had the opportunity to talk to sister Edith again. We are encouraging her to come back to our Lord. It is of great importance that she brings her two sons to services so they can continue learning and so they can see a good example in their mother. Everyone’s presence is important because we encourage each other when we worship our Lord together. The congregation was very happy to see them congregated with us during this month. Sister Edith ask for forgiveness and she said to the congregation that she will be constantly congregating now. We pray for her faith. (MKJV) Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for He is faithful who promised), 10:24 and let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good works, 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Brother Jorge Benitez and I continue our Saturday study. Before Jorge found the church of Christ, he used to be a member with a Pentecostal group. He has learned very well about the differences. I still visit those differences with him to make sure he is in complete understanding and make sure he can also teach and explain to others the truth. Why we do not use instrumental music for worship. Jorge and part of his family had been sick for a week with flu-like symptoms. Thanks to our Lord, they are all back to health doing well.
We had the visit of Ms. Yesenia and her two daughters, Ashley, and Angie. Yesenia and I talked by phone about the church of Christ, especially about the way we worship our God and Father during services on the first day of the week. Yesenia and her daughters did congregate with the church at Dover during a Sunday service. We are encouraging her to continue studying and congregating with us.
Waldemar and his wife Ros congregated with us again during September. My wife and I had the opportunity to talk to them after services. We are getting to know them better. They both work as nurse in the ICU at a hospital not in this area. They live about 45 minutes away but are happy to congregate with us. Their schedule is very intense and only have one weekend free per month. I told them that my wife and I could travel to their house once a week for bible class. They said they will let us know.
My wife and I visited brother Rafael and sister Cande at their home. We spend some time with them and pray together. They wish so dearly to continue congregating with the church at Dover. Their sickness limits their movements, walking and therefore congregating constantly.
We also visited brother Alexander. He is in bed and only gets up with assistance to the restroom. On top of his Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, he was starting with flu-like symptoms. We continue to encourage him and pray together as well.
Handing our literature and invitation cards is something we do constantly. Sometimes we stand outside different places but also many places where we go, we do the same.
Jose, Jesus, and others have been visiting us again now that they are back from Mexico. Jose is very open to the teachings and my hopes are high with him obeying the Lord. Only, he can make that decision and I pray he will and soon. When they let me know with time, I go pick them up at their house and drive them for church services. Other times they ride their bikes to church service which tells me they are very interested in being there worshiping and learning.
Brother Beny and his wife Jatnna have recently moved to work with us at Dover. They are a young couple and are interested in helping with reaching out to the community. They do not live near but will involve them with the work as well.
In bible class, we have started chapter 14 of the book of Romans. We will soon be finished with this book and my plan is to continue to the book of Hebrews.
Thank you so much to the congregations that have been providing monthly support as we continue working at Dover. It’s so important to us and you make this work possible. We pray you are prospered in the work in the kingdom of our Lord.
We thank you for your prayers and ask that you please continue praying for the work at Dover and for the needs of the saints and the work in His kingdom all over the world.
Thank you for your love and support.
All glory to our Lord and Savior!
Go with God.
In Christ,
